Anna & Rendal
18/08/2022 It is 18 August when we write this. We are very happy with our guests and enjoy the atmosphere and the liveliness. Yet, we started to make plans for next summer. We think that hot summers like this will become the new normal. Therefore we have decided that next year the children's bedrooms on the top floor of our gîtes will have air conditioning. The lodges that are in the shade in the morning will be equipped with central heat extraction so that it will be much more pleasant during the day and in the early evening. To avoid impacting the environment with our higher energy consumption, we are going to build a large shed on the car park that will be fitted with solar panels. So many solar panels that, if all goes well, we will be completely self-supporting. Moreover, Rendal will then have a beautiful space to work on his oldtimers. We seize this opportunity to respond to another trend that we see very clearly this summer: the electric car. In order to ensure a holiday without "charging stress", Domaine du Cammazet will have an electric charging station next year!
The property is an oasis of tranquility in a beautiful part of France.

Heated swimming pool
Our 10 x 5 m heated swimming pool with wooden terrace is beautifully located on our domaine. You have a wonderful view of the rolling meadows, the bison park and the characteristic bell tower of the village of Lapenne. It's nice to swim a few lengths, play or just cool off. Around the pool there are comfortable sun loungers. You can also treat yourself to a cold drink or an ice cream in our comfortable bar truck!
You reach our domain by a beautiful driveway and an entrance gate. The Cammazet domaine covers 13 hectares and is made up of rolling meadows and a forest.
The 360 degree views and the sunsets are breathtaking. You can take nice walks, for example to the old oak tree on the hill overlooking the herds of deer. Of course, there is also a pétanque court, a trampoline and swings.
By the pool, you will find our Peugeot J7 which is fitted out as a small bar. On the terrace are retro tables and chairs, a swing in the shade with a view of the bison and an XXL lounge sofa.
We are happy to serve a delicious espresso, cappuccino, soda or juice. Of course, we also have ice cream.
Around lunch and dinner we can also serve alcoholic drinks.
Free unlimited wifi
Unlimited and good WiFi in unspoiled nature? We also thought it was impossible but we finally found it. Our wifi is 4G which arrives via a private antenna developed by the aviation industry. It is expensive but works quickly and is really unlimited. There is no television in our accommodations. It is a conscious choice that we will be happy to explain to you if you wish.
Cleaning and laundry
We have opted to include final cleaning, bed linen and towels in our weekly rates. Kitchen towels are also included. As simple as that. We just ask you to bring your own beach towels. Only the tourist tax that we collect for the municipality is still to be added. And of course the drinks, meals and ice-creams that you will enjoy during the week and that you can pay in cash when you leave.
In high season, we offer a table d'hôte evening 4 times a week. We prepare a BBQ or a varied buffet with lots of fresh dishes including vegetarian options as well as local wines. Parents and children eat at the same moment. With your own family or all the kids together. It's up to you. When the children have finished their meal, they can play or swim while the parents can stay a little longer to enjoy the atmosphere and the freshness of the night.

Active and sports
Our estate and surrounding area is a large and beautiful nature reserve with chickens and horses around the house, bison and deer almost in our backyard and the bamboo park a short drive away. The rolling hills resemble Tuscany with the color nuances of grains, sunflowers and green crops. Lovers of special natural phenomena can also have fun. Less than an hour's drive towards the Pyrenees you will find the magnificent Grotte de Niaux with beautiful paintings or visit the Grotte de Mas d'Azil, the only cave in Europe that you can drive by car. , you can take a 1,500 m trail on the Labouiche river by boat ... in a cave. Also in Ariège you will find delicious regional dishes and products. Affordable menus and local specialties are served in the many friendly restaurants. If you have something to celebrate, a dinner at Chateau de Camont is an unforgettable experience. Water runs in your mouth in front of bakery windows and in local markets, you buy delicious products to get started in the kitchen yourself. A wine tasting in a castle is also possible. We are not far from Corbières and Minervois, where fine wines are made. Or take a nice stroll through the vineyards where Blanquette de Limoux is made. It is a delicious local sparkling wine that is older than champagne. Near Carcassonne are some good producers of 'natural wines. Click here for photos.
How wonderful to shop at a local market. The weekly markets are always in the morning. So make sure you arrive on time! The Mirepoix Monday market is our absolute favorite. The square around the cathedral is then full of stalls with fresh local produce, clothes, souvenirs and oriental and African dishes that you can taste immediately. The atmosphere is warm and hippy with street musicians and a lot of attention to organic and vegan. On weekends there are often garage sales and antique markets. We find the garage sales in small towns to be the most charming. For fine antiques or art, you can visit a flea market or one of the many flea markets. In high season there are also worthwhile night food markets. Click here for photos.
